July 2008
Monday, July 14:
The yard and the weeds are keeping me busy, but I’m not complaining. Summer will be over all too soon.
Between watering and weeding, I am working with Tamara Fisher on our presentations for EduFest this month. I’m looking forward to visiting with Tamara in person, rather than through e-mail, and to visiting with so many other folks who are interested in gifted children.
I had been hoping to attend the SENG conference in Salt Lake this month, but life is too crazy here for me to leave for another week. Driver’s Ed, Magnolia’s job, Rupert’s and Pandora’s soccer games--and weeds.
Last night I was talking on my cell phone with Stanley, when I noticed a masked face outside my window. Rupert had cut the eyes and mouth out of a black snow hat and pulled it over his face and secured it with his red ninja headband. He had the cordless phone in his hand, and I overheard him whisper into the receiver, “I think it’s serious.” He and Pandora were on a spying kick, and they were using the cordless phones to communicate, which only works for a few seconds at a time, because just when you get to the most important part of the message, the mysterious phone voice informs you that you need to make a call or hang up and then assaults you with those blaring beeps. Blaring beeps are not conducive to spying or maintaing your cover of secrecy.
I don’t know if Rupert and Pandora uncovered any earth-shattering secrets during their brief spy adventure. I doubt it, as I don’t think I have any earth-shattering secrets to uncover. That’s okay, though. They’ve got imaginations. I’m sure they’ll come up with something.
Thursday, July 24:
Happy Birthday to Edna!
Sorry I’ve been slacking on the blog this month, but I have decided to officially declare July the Busiest Month of the Year. I’m currently in the midst of preparations for nine hours worth of presentations at EduFest in Boise next week. Tamara and I have been working on a video full of interviews of gifted children and their parents and teachers. We will be presenting it at our keynote on Sunday.
So, I’d better get back to the grindstone. I’ll be checking back in in August. Hope your summer is as productive as mine has been!
