Most of my books are related to gifted children, and all of my books rely heavily on humor. If I can’t laugh about it, I probably won’t write about it.
I wrote Raisin’ Brains: Surviving My Smart Family in 2002. This was followed by a book I co-authored with Tamara Fisher in 2007 titled Intelligent Life in the Classroom: Smart Kids and Their Teachers. 2007 also brought Life in the Fast Brain: Keeping Up with Gifted Minds. Yes, 2007 was a good year. These first books were published by Great Potential Press, Inc., which specializes in books about gifted issues. The awards for these books include:
2002 ForeWord Magazine Book-of-the-Year Gold Award for Humor
2007 Legacy Book Award
2008 Teacher’s Choice Award
2008 Mom’s Choice Award for Humor
2008 iParenting Award.
20o8 and 2009 came and went without much ado, but 2010 was a very special year. 2010 was the year 231 Other Ways to Use a Sanitary Napkin: The Ultimate Recycling Guide for Women Who Have Moved On first saw the light of day. Co-written with my feaux-author Maxine Paddington and illustrated by the illustrious, and fictitious, Luna Weeks, this was a new kind of book for me--one that makes me blush with pride. Yes, I’m sure that’s it. It must be pride that makes my face turn red every time I say the title out loud.
